Your plan looks great. I am very interested in the results of using cell phones or any BYOD in schools. Do you have any suggestions from your technology department on AUP's and how to implement BYOD with your school's network?
ReplyDeleteYour plan looks thorough. I love the use of survey monkey! The struggle we've heard (but not experienced) with BYOD has been the varied speeds and abilities of the devices as well as the signals from various providers. The complaint is...ONCE you have groups routinely bringing the devices, you then struggle with cell signal and/or whether or not the device can keep up! I love the idea of empower students and training them on their device. I believe we too often ask students to "power down" their devices and in turn they "power down" their thinking...sure would be nice to see them POWER UP both! :-)
ReplyDeleteI thought I already left a comment. I will retype and try again. I wrote that I am also using Google docs to complete surveys with the staff as well as prezi to share my findings with them. You have a well thought out plan and I would love to share your findingd with my district. I thinnk this is an idea that should be adapted my all secondary schools!!
ReplyDeleteYour district is certainly leading the charge on a new wave of how to use technology for educational purposes. I'm sure there are several hurdles the district will have to overcome before things begin to iron out. I'm curious to know if there are any repercussions for students who abuse the privilege of using their own technology devices. Also, I'm not a technology genius, but will the BYOD program overload the system used to make wireless capabilities available? I know sometimes too many users at once can jam a system. Neither of the things I mention are critical of your plan, just curious to know how your school will handle this. I have a strong feeling our district is moving rapidly in this direction. I look forward to following your blog for guidance and advice.
ReplyDeleteYour plan looks as if it was well thought out and has great detail to it. I would be curious to find out the results of your research because this is something that has been mentioned on our campus.

ReplyDeleteYou're action plan is wonderful!! I am excited to read your findings. This has been an issue on our campus, so it will be nice to see how it works on your's. Thanks for being such a fabulous help with all areas of concern in the conferences, etc.
